'Tis the season to celebrate! Raise a glass for the wild as we unveil Wild South IBA (India Brown Ale) – a special collaboration brew between Wild South, Asheville Brewing Company, and French Broad Brewing Company.  The collaboration ale was mashed-in with fanfare (we all got together to literally mash all the grains together) on December 1 and will be released with a celebration event on December 17 at 5:30pm at the Millroom (66 Ashland Avenue). This limited edition beer will be featured at both ABC tasting rooms at Coxe Avenue and Merrimon Avenue and the FBBC tasting room on Fairview Road while it lasts. A Unique Collaboration “I’ve wanted to collaborate with my pal Doug Riley and friends at Asheville Brewing for quite a while, and this hoppy brown ale is the perfect partnership,” said French Broad head brewer Aaron Wilson. “At French Broad Brewing, we’ve worked with Wild South to highlight their work to protect our woods and waters, and we are really wild about this unique IBA.”  Wild South works to protect wild places and wild things all across the South, and with their headquarters in Asheville, it is fitting to work with breweries that value clean water and wilds – the city’s reservoir, famous French Broad River and unique mountain streams all originate on public lands stewarded and defended by Wild South. “Aaron and I tweaked this recipe together and had a great day mashing-in with Ben Colvin of Wild South.” said Doug Riley, head brewer at Asheville Brewing Co. “This brew is a really unique balanced brown ale ramped up with a great hoppy character from Cascade and Chinook hops.” Rounding out at about 5.5% ABV, the Wild South IBA is a perfect match for the organization and this holiday season. Going Wild! The Wild South IBA is a very special limited collaboration and will be available beginning on December 17 at the beer release party from 5:30-7:30pm at the Millroom. Wild South is partnering with friends at the American Advertising Federation of Asheville (AAFA) who will hold their annual “Jingle and Mingle” gathering at the beer release party!  A $10 RSVP ticket includes entry to the Millroom beer release, appetizers, and entry to win the MANY prizes including Wild South tees, hats, and pint glasses, a double-nest hammock from ENO, gift cards, 2 tickets on Wild South’s VIP Brews Cruise and more! Get Involved “Asheville’s brewing industry continues to be incredibly supportive of Wild South’s work, and Doug and Aaron have really gone the extra mile here,” said Ben Colvin, Wild South’s Development Director. “Asheville Brewing Company and French Broad Brewing Company have stepped up with this collaboration IBA to show just how important our waters and woods are to us all. Together with AAFA and our brewing friends, this beer release is going to be a blast!” Wild South inspires people to enjoy, value and protect the wild character and natural legacy of the South.  Stewarding National Forests, Defending Wilderness, Advocating for Wildlife, Engaging Communities and Preserving Cultural Heritage are powerful programs Wild South leads across the entire South – protecting over half a million acres, thousands of miles of streams, dozens of species and more over the past 20 years!
