We all know oysters and beer make a great combo, but have you ever tried an oyster beer? Don’t miss the chance to sip on The Pearl, a limited-edition Fonta Flora Brewery oyster pilsner, paired with freshly shucked oysters, ceviche and small plates from Jettie Rae’s airstream food trailer (also named The Pearl), during a special pop-up at the brewery’s Morganton tasting room on November 19 from 1-5 p.m.
The Pearl beer, a 5.5% ABV local two row pilsner malt, steeped with whole oysters and oyster shells selected by Jettie Rae’s, is now back in rotation at both establishments. The incorporation of oysters - an unlikely ingredient, but one with a long history in beer making - adds layers of minerality and texture to this crisp, drinkable brew.
