Open Hearts Art Center

Asheville, NC is a city known for its thriving creative community. Visitors and locals alike can explore stunning works created by a plethora of North Carolinian artists. But the artists of Asheville are as giving as they are creative, and many of the local arts centers and galleries find ways to merge art with community service. And now we will return the service by highlighting a few of Asheville’s leading artistic nonprofits.

Open Hearts Art Center

Open Hearts Art Center is a community dedicated to offering creative opportunities and expression for adults with developmental, mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Created by three local Asheville women with a passion for art and commitment to giving back, Open Hearts offers classes, mentorship, and resources for differently-abled participants to embrace artistic expression. Arts For Life

Arts For Life is a nonprofit organization of teachers, interns, volunteers, and parents bringing creativity to children and families facing serious illnesses and disabilities. Their programs and classes provide a space for pediatric families to combine their healthcare experiences with empowering expression in music, art, writing, and more.
